To register for the Spring 2012 SWE Mentoring Program, you can fill out this form before the meeting or register there. The meeting will be on Friday, February 10th, from 2-4 pm in JC Meeting Room B.
The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Mentoring Program is a Big Brother/Big Sister-type program between under- and upperclassmen undergraduate students. The SWE Mentoring Program is not meant to take the place of academic advising or peer advising, but will hopefully connect students with similar interests so that they may make lasting friendships and share knowledge. All students from Science, Math, Engineering, and Technology (STEM) majors are encouraged to apply, both men and women.
There are about three events per semester (an introductory meeting and social events). The participants are asked to meet with their partners at least two times per month, and one of those meetings should be in person. Past social events have included bowling, laser tag, ice-skating, a video game night, and a teamwork-based ropes course. Light refreshments will be served at the meeting.
If you have any questions, concerns, feedback, or comments, please contact the SWE Mentoring Program Coordinator, Ummer Shamma, at ushamma@masonlive.gmu.edu.
